Over the weekend I discovered some great meat alternatives that are not only high in protein but are also pretty well balanced from a carb/fat and fiber perspective.

Chicken-less and Beef-less items were found at Trader Joe's while the balance of the products I bought at Kroger. They were all under $5 each and the Quorn brand is actually featured on the cash back shopping app "Ibotta" right now.

So far I have tried the chicken-less strips, Quorn and Boca crumbles.

Chicken-less:

added to Indian bowls, Mexican bowls and Chinese stir fry. I chop it into pretty small pieces because to me it looks a little less than appetizing. It doesn't really taste like much or have an odd texture so it mixes very well with what I have it in with.

Quorn (cutlets):

I made this on the stove top. Brushed both sides with olive oil and let heat. It became lightly browned and I added it to a mixture of spaghetti squash, broccoli and basil pesto. This while wasn't extremely flavorful had a wonderful meat like texture. I was pleasantly surprised.

Boca (Crumbles):

These babies are packed with protein and zero fat! I crumbled them into my chili and it was great. Again, I didn't notice any distinct taste or odd texture. I think next time I will make Tacos and see if it pairs well with taco seasonings and becomes more flavorful.

I will update you guys as I try out the rest :)
