I am just going to start with 16.2, because 16.1 was just 20 minutes of grind. Basically the complete opposite of what 16.2 was, at least for me anyways!
The first time I did it I had no expectations, no idea what was to come, I just tried to be as slow yet efficient as possible.
I broke my toes to bar into 5s and attempted to do double unders all unbroken. However, we all know how double unders go, sometimes they are your friend and other times they aren't. We were cordial this go around. Hit all the cleans and went to the second round.
Same idea with the toes to bar, however I was not prepared for how out of breath and gone my grip was...GONE...hit the doubles and then onto the cleans. squat cleans by the way. Got to number 11 out of 13 and just couldn't get it and time was up...2 reps from round 3...needless to say that was personally unacceptable!
Round 2 at this workout was much better. Better in the sense I made it to 2 cleans in round 3...wooo...I was pleased. My body wanted to stop, everything hurt, at one point in the doubles I felt like I couldn't see straight. I just kept telling myself to breath...lungs were burning...breath....I had to keep going...
I think I laid on the ground for a good 10 minutes before I thought about moving...Eventually I moved, lungs still hurting, hating me. But I broke my barrier and for that I am so very happy!
I saw a quote today that said:
"You are only confined by the walls you build yourself"
this really speaks to me and the type of competitor I am.
