I have recently discovered that there are many a houseplants that are low maintenance and also do not require direct sunlight. In addition to those fun facts, there are also many options for cat friendly plants! Prince, my dog isn't a concern, it is all about keeping my high jumping, grazer of a cat safe. Lexi, my cat has been known to devour a cat mint plant in hours and take an air plant from its home and eat its limbs. So, here is what I have been able to add to our home that will enhance the vibe as well as being safe for her.
Cat friendly:
-Herb garden: Rosemary and Thyme
-Spider plants
-Areca Palm
I also have not so friendly plants like cacti, Aloe, ZZ and Pothos plants. She doesn't bother the cacti and I have my Pothos and ZZ plants hanging out of her reach.
So how do I manage watering and what room they will flourish in best? I discovered an App that helps me care for all of them! "Planta", it's free to download and use in its basic version. You can upgrade to premium, but I just need it to keep me on a watering timeline and know what room based on sunlight my plants will live in. It does indoor and outdoor plants too!
Happy plant living!
