Multnomah falls is the tallest waterfall in Oregon. It is just 40 mins outside of Portland.
We were lucky, it was a beautiful sunny day when we went. It was truly breathtaking! You can feel the spray coming off the falls as your walk over the bridge on the mile hike up to the top.
It is a paved walkway up to the top, but as you get closer to the top the steeper is gets. It isn't a difficult hike but it will get your heart rate up a bit and get the sweat going!
The smell once you make it up to the river that feeds the falls is that of a fresh forest candle. It reminds me of hiking in Germany, you can just smell everything. The water, the leaves, it's magical.
Once you make it to the top you can stand and look out over the falls and the river it falls to. I don't love heights so it makes me feel weird to look out over top.
It took about an 45 mins to get to the top about, and coming down, it is almost hard not to jog due to the decline.
It is a more popular trail so there are more tourists there that some of the other trails we went on. However, during this time it wasn't so overly crowded that it wasn't enjoyable!
